I know people were disappointed that the crawfish ran out around 3, but there was plenty of food left at the other vendors tents right till the end. The main tent had shrimp all afternoon & beans & rice till about 6. After the fiasco they had last year, you can understand why they were conservative with their food order. You should give these guys a break as this is 100% for charity. Also, the music, weather & vibe were excellent.
Why isn't this on the front page of the CNY section instead of the woman with the feeding tube in her nose? Oh I know, man bites dog. Sensationalism rules!
I have to ask if you ever played, much less coached or had a kid play. Sure some parents are overboard, but overall a great team experience for kids.
You are such a jerk - Levon was a super nice guy & 100% salt of the earth. And you are a loser for impugning his stature.
How about "The Rising"? Excellent almost all the way through.
Hey John - great article. BTW, I think it's Hailey Boronczyk.
It starts on the west side of the MOST, near the Soundgarden at the end of W. Jefferson St. I believe it's 2.6 miles one way to the shore of Onondaga Lake, which is the coolest spot in my opinion. Look for the pair of eagles roosting in the trees to the north along the shore. The part of the Creekwalk that's not interrupted by crossing downtown streets begins at the old firehouse on W. Genesee, not sure about the distance from there.
You can't go wrong ay the Mission or the Empire & this might be a good opportunity to check out the new decor & menu at bc.
BYOS - Bring your own snow?
That's a pretty good idea. They have a similar exhibit at Red Rocks outside of Denver & with the exception of the Beatles, the "Warm's" list is just as impressive.
Nesting bald eagles on Onondaga Lake & now snowy owls (temporarily) at the airport- this is so cool!
White Trash with Jerry LaCroix on vocals & Rick Derringer tore the place up. Pretty much the some show captured on the iconic live album "Roadwork" except without Johnny Winter. ELP was pretty boring after that to our group of Edgar Winter fans. Plus the Boone's Farm wore off.
Elvis still has the goods! "Radio Sweetheart/Jackie Wilson Said" had the whole house signing along - do do do do do do do do do!
Thanks Carolyn. We'll see how it goes.
I remember the Fire Marshalls trying to get Bruce to quit. They were very uptight older guys. He was too busy running all over the stage & up on the speakers during "a Quarter to 3". My wife was 8 1/2 months pregnant & we left when the regular show ended (Rosalita?), but came back in through the big door on Montgomery St. for the encore. Our 1st son was born 4 days later. Didn't name him Bruce though.
What's kind of amazing & sad is how the number of concerts dropped off after 1980. From 1972 on there were at least 15 concerts per year & then less than 10 per year from 1982 & on. Any reasons why? Turning Stone didn't open until 1993 & the Dome hasn't really ever been much competition.
Great screen name! "And see if he's brought along a little bag for you!" We went to the 1974 concert after the Dinah Moe Humm album came out & Frank had the whole place eating out of his hand.
Same as in 1971 when Edgar's White Trash opened for Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Great, wild opening set that was captured in '72 on the iconic "Road Work". ELP pretty much put us to sleep after EWWT.
vibcity - Your 1st sentence is flatly incorrect: The Valley is still a nice place to live. How an unfortunate situation like a fire becomes an occasion to criticize a neighborhood is beyond me.
What, house fires don't happen in the suburbs? Cossitt Street is in a nice section of the Valley across from Webster's Pond that is almost 100% owner-occupied. New homes have been constructed nearby on Valley Drive & Dorwin. How is this deterioration & exactly what is your agenda for making such an incorrect assertion?
And Happy Holidays to you! Somebody explain to me why people want to take the time to criticize the place where they grew up & thrived, but haven't lived in for many years. Must be some type of psychological disorder. Tar pity envy possibly?
Bud - Please don't leave Dennis Franchione off the list of the take the money & run club. Left TCU after 3 years for Alabama; then left Bama after 2 years for A&M, informing his players by teleconference.
If you post that a couple of more times maybe someone will believe it.
Oh for crying out loud, here's one of the good guys, a Slater & a hometown hero & only one comment? Here's to Tom & Tess - as solid as they come.
Amen! And joker 47, you might want to think (probably a novel concept) before you type 4 separate posts. JES - follow the signs.
Aw c'mon billy. Remember if you're going to comment on these articles you've got to be negative.
I think it's pretty much common knowledge (maybe not common enough) that Clark's is going into the old Teddy's spot on S. Clinton nest to Al's & opening fairly soon.
It's so easy to sit back at your keyboard & criticize or make fun of everyone who's trying to make a difference. One of the most remarkable things about Pedals to Possibilities is that about half of those who joined to earn a bike continue to ride after they get one. This is a tribute to the positive aspects of bike riding, but also to the respect that the men & women have for Andrew. BTW, that's the same Keith Czaplicki who was previously the SU women's basketball coach.
Anyone who has ever met this kid or her family cares about her. As for you...
But think of all the money you're saving on punctuation! Seriously (sort of) most of you people should put down the keyboard & go outside.
