how do you pass judgement on people you dont know and look at yourselves in the mirror with a clear conscience? Brandons Mom, as a mother of a young teen, my heart goes out to you and your family. I have given up hoping that anyone who comments has any compassion for the struggle inner city parents who actually do parent their kids have to deal with. My prayers to you, your mother and your son. I pray he gets the help he needs now before his situation gets any worse. I lost my husband to substance abuse. this new drug Molly is destroying many lives and seems to be more addictive and easier to get than crack cocaine. May you find peace and my your son find his way home to you.

thanku to all the concerned commentors, this was my house. Im still in a bit of shock but glad we are all safe and unharmed. thanku to the firefighters and the red cross for their quick response and their support. the attic and upstairs bathroom are fire damaged. there is water damage throughout the rest of the house. They cant return power due to exposed wiring so we have 3 days in a hotel to figure out our next move. thanku to the fire fighters for saving most of my belongings.. yes we had surge protectors and yes I had renters insurance so everything should be fine soon. For those who like to make jokes, walk around your place of dwelling and thank your god it wasnt your home. Thank your god you get to sleep in your bed under your roof tonight while I am currently homeless, with 2 kids. Thank your god you dont have to replace half your homes belongings. I will be thanking mine that I had smoke detectors and I still have my life because as bad as things are for me right now It could have a whole lot worse. April

Our deepest sympathies for your loss. My Son attends an OCM Boces program.They do wonderful things for our kids and it sounds like ur son was on his way to having a successful future. Im sure his absence will impact alot of people. from the descritption of his personality he would want every one to do good in memory of him.

I dont think you can read. I have taught in a school. I have a special needs child who goes to one of these programs. I have been my childs advocate for an education that is to fit his learning disabilities so he can be successful in schoolfor the past 9 years. the program he is now is the 2nd program I have put him to keep him out of a regular classroom where he will not get the help he needs. I am at this school 5 times a month or more for counseling with my child. I get daily reports on his activities, I talk with his counselors and doctor several times a week. I think I know and am not judging.

Have u read any of the above comments? I am speaking from personal experience, and have done my own reseach on these issues. I am also educated thru Sryacuse University to be a high school teacher.I currently do not teach to give more time to my children.

ignorance of the disorder would allow someone to say that. beating a developmentally special need child serves no purpose and doesnt teach them how to modify their own behavior.

this article is not talking about the kids who failed out of school. its a special educational program for children with developmental and behavioral issues and a day treatment program that includes counseling of the child and the family to help them learn to deal with the disability. This program was created so these children can work around their disabilities and still be successful educationally. My son wants to go to college and colleges have programs thru academic support for these children with special needs also.

There are tours given, and Time out rooms are used in most of these programs.. the ones I have seen were padded, with a window to see in and monitored by staff. The rooms are not used for punishment but to give the kid a place to vent their fustration out of the class room so teaching of the other kids can continue. Most of the time Kids only go to these rooms for no more than 15 to 20 minutes or the length of time it takes them to calm down. Also they are usually only used initially until the child masters other calming techniques.

I sympathize with this mother for my child goes to OCM Boces. He is also Adhd, ODD, behind developmentally and educationally. For those of you who think I dont discipline my kid you are soarly mistaken. he is 14 and spends most of his days on punishment. Unless you have a child with these disorders or work with children like these you have no understanding of how difficult, fustrating, and tiring it is. All we do is work on behavior modification.So much so that our other children often feel neglected but we still try. The regular school district and teachers do not have the time or the training to handle kids like these and they often get lost in shuffle or flunk out of regular school. It takes alot of work and time to get ur kid into one of these programs and keeping them in the program. There are alot of requirements on the part of the parent. She is right, We trust these people with our kids and that they are in a safer situation than in a regular school. They monitor and teach the parent as well as the child with the behavioral/educational problems. Im sure the problem with the time out room was more of a facility space issue. But I thank this mother for being vigilant and caring about the care of her child to take notice and take action.

One apprentice being the brother of the young man that was murdered last year on colvin and state street. He is helping this one get off the street, teaching him a trade, and giving him focus and hope. Not for a fee, not for recognition just because we as human beings should do that for each other instead of degrade and dismiss. I am a country girl cuz I have never heard of having to register your bike with the city. So Im still trying to comprehend why an unmotorized bike needs to be registered. As for the other infractions cited, the only problem I have is the fact only specific neighborhoods are being policed this way. Have they not been on the north east or west side of this city?

There are several artists in this city honoring TaRoc. It was nice for ONE of them to get recognition. John, Will, Jon, TaRoc and James all worked together and promoted their own personal styles and skills. They learned the craft from a mentor and the only payment expected was to teach someone else the craft. You may not find it newsworthy but a young man with artistic talent reading this article may go to James to be mentored. He may learn a trade and take himself off the streets. Taroc and Will expanded from air brushing to tatooing. They used their natural talent to make an honest living. They teach their craft to others who express interest in learning and self discipline to put in the hours. This is what is missing from this article to make it NEWS WORTHY

OR it a single parent home who was the victim of domestic abuse, who made a choice and left that situation and now works 2 jobs and cant afford daycare so relies on her older teens to help out. Or maybe the both parents are in the home and both parents have to work a job thats 3 to 11 because work hours are set by the job you get and we all dont get the joy of scheduling ourselves, OR MAYBE THE PARENT IS GOING TO SCHOOL, WORKING, & RAISING KIDS AND IS OVERWHELMED WITH RESOUSES FOR HELP OR MAYBE ONE OF THE PARENTS HAS DIED, OR MAYBE THEY JUST GOT DIVORCED ( WHICH HAPPENS IN EVERY COMMUNITY)... BY THE SAME MEASURE THAT YOU JUDGE LET IT BE JUDGED BACK TO YOU AGAIN.

The 19 yr old was out walking his neices and nephews for trick or treating. They were on their way home. The occupants of the car had been throwing eggs at the trick or treaters. That is what started the arguement. When the 19 yr old went to approach the car they shot him and took off. My 15 yr old witnessed the incident because he was at his cousins house on Stolp. Those are facts not included in the article. not like it matters,you all are just gonna judge and blame the victim as well as the criminal like always and not suggest anything realistic anyway.
