They pulled funding because PP misused and under reported grants and funds. Since the Komen foundation is "private" they can choose to pull out funding from anyone they choose, especially if they believe their funding is not being used for what it is designated for. PP says it provides mammograms but in reality does not provide them. PP is deceitful and is currently under a federal investigation. Considering they are under federal investigation for misuse of funds, the Komen Foundation did exactly the right thing.
This is all just propoganda by PP and trust me, they have plenty of funds since they pull in 2009 alone, Planned Parenthood performed 332,278 abortions, from which it derived about $164,154,000, or 15% of its annual revenue.
If I, as a "private" donor gave an organization a large amount of money to use for a "specific" purpose, then later find out that the money went to something else, then I have the RIGHT, in good conscience to cease donating to that organization. What is so hard to understand about that? PP IS UNDER A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION...need I say more?

Wouldn't the basketball team "staff" have been in Tennessee with the team, therefore leaving from Tennessee to get to Pittsburgh? If the staff is always with the team, then why would the staff be in Syracuse while the team was in Tennessee? Seems to me the "staff" would have been in Tennessee with the team, then moving on from there to Pitt. Someone help me out here?

IMHO I think the Post Standard and ESPN should be prosecuted for holding back evidence in a "possible" abuse case.

I have long stopped watching anything Susan Sarandon does in the capacity of movies, interviews, etc. and this seals the deal. I stopped watching anything Jane Fonda does as well because of her disrespectful treatment of our veterans and active military. Both these ladies (and I use the term loosely) are nothing but garbage. There are many like them in Hollywood and we would be hard pressed to find a few actors that have any real sense of class and intelligence. Things spew from their mouths when they have no clue what they are talking about. I have no respect for people like Sarandon and Fonda, whom I choose to ignore. They are nothing and mean nothing, contrary to what they believe.

Planned Parenthood receives federal funding through the Title X Family Planning Program, a 90-percent Medicaid match for family planning, and a federal program to purchase drugs from manufacturers at a reduced price.
Four years ago, state auditors in California began reviewing Planned Parenthood affiliates, but the audit was stopped after only one review was completed. That review found that Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside counties overbilled the government more than $5.2 million.
Ray Ruddy, president of Gerard Health Foundation, is leading the call for a federal investigation. He says, unlike other federal contractors, Planned Parenthood does not have to bill the government at cost, but is able to bill at what they call "normal and customary rates."
"Let's say, right now, everybody bills the federal government at their cost, plus eight percent. Most vendors, ...whether they're wholesalers or retailers, actually bill out and mark up their stuff anywhere between 50 and 100 percent," Ruddy explains. "If you take everybody who's billing the federal government and they start to mark up their stuff, their materials they provide, by 50-to-100 percent -- I have not even begun to make a calculation of that, but I bet that would be in the billions of dollars."
Ruddy also alleges that officials in California redefined the term "at cost" to validate what he says are fraudulent billing practices of Planned Parenthood. He believes Planned Parenthood could have fraudulently billed the federal government in excess of $180 million.

If the girl is known to be from a devoutly Catholic family then her reasons for wearing the rosary are simple. She is standing up for Jesus. She should have the religious freedom to display her faith. However, I went to Catholic Schools my whole life and the nuns told us that we shouldn't wear rosaries unless we were actually praying it! We always had our rosaries on our person, either in our purses, pockets, etc. then took them out to actually pray the rosary during the school day...what a novel idea, huh? I taught my sons to always carry their rosaries in their pockets everywhere they go as a reminder that Jesus and our Heavenly Mother Mary are always with them and to pray them when they have a few free minutes. It does unnerve me when I see young punks with bad behavior wearing a rosary around their necks, because chances are, they are not praying them....which would make it blasphemous, wearing them for the wrong reason. Furthermore, it really sickens me that gangs would choose a religious sacramental to use as "gangwear." What the heck has this country turned into?

Inner Harbor would be a good spot for the festa...lots more room and lots more parking. What is the answer that the Senator gave as to why the festa is held in the current location? Anyone know?
I love the festa but it would be nice to be able to sit and enjoy a meal while listening to music instead of having the music in a separate spot from the food and seating. The current set up is horrible.

I agree with sunnyvision. All the bands are rock or hard rock with the exception of perhaps one or two that play at odd times when most people are working. I'd love to see more R&B there. There's no diversity as sunnyvision said. When the promoter only books hard rock bands, that pretty much leaves everyone else out. What about an R&B National Act like Earth Wind and Fire or a group that is categorized under that genre? They make enough money at that festival to finance it, that's for sure.
Also, they need to expand the area or hold it somewhere else, like the Inner Harbor. It's become too large and it's not pleasant snailing through the crowds in such a small area...and it's totally inconvenient for wheelchairs and stollers.
We more than likely won't attend anymore because of the above reasons.

Can't wait till Festa Italiana this weekend! It's my favorite social event with all my friends from the Italian Community. All three days...here we come!
