Well, I'm going to look at my last E.O.B. to see if they are showing the deductible declining or not. We've used the doctors offices and labs quite a bit this year and now that I think about it, it isn't saying "$50 of your deductible having been met" as an example.
I HOPE THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE undertakes a thorough investigation and requires Excellus to fully review ALL CUSTOMERS (patients; doctors, etc.) and refund. THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE HAD BETTER PLACE A HUGE FINE ON EXCELLUS AS WELL.
I am a homemaker so I have time to analyze the bills....I catch all kinds of mistakes, but admit I missed this one. My point: EMPLOYED PEOPLE ARE WORKING.....MAKE EXCELLUS DO THE WORK AND ATTORNEY GENERAL, WE PAY TAXES YOU FIX IT!
Well stated Maggie. So often we make these assumptions in another culture. When I first met our Italian guests thru our Sister Cities Program I thought they were quite sexual in gestures; language and were always touching. One in particular referred to his colleague as his "American wife", come to find out it was an attempt to refer to her as a childhood friend. Oh.....and most all of the males and most all of the females are equally affection to both genders. Displacing this person in American culture made him look chauvinistic.
The Bernie Fine "sexual abuse model" is reminiscent of Watkins Glen School District modified basketball coach "sexual abuse model" of GARY SERLO. Those of us who worked with him had no reason to suspect him........ and look at the horrific abuse he was responsible for!!
Abusers meld into society.......Unless there is evidence linking Boeheim and Syracuse University beyond being Fines boss then they are not guilty of anything.
Whether colleague or superior, if you know of abuse it should be reported to Child Protective Services. In my situation, I was the colleague..... In Boeheim's and Syracuse University as employer they are the superior.....
If the colleague/superior has no knowledge then you are not culpable.

I sat one day like Coach Boeheim, believing the person I know/knew could never do this...... Well, if the Gary Serlo experience I had is anything to learn from we can and should cut Boeheim a break.....
BOEHEIM IS NOT THE ABUSER AND NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ABUSE....... My God, Boeheim has young children, lives across the street from the creep! My guess is Boeheim and his wife are pretty much flipping out and experiencing a "new normal" when thinking of their relationship with Fine over the years.
Abusers meld into society....... the victim advocates who think Boeheim should be fired are jumping to conclusions. Having read all of the comments to this point I must say:
1. It appears the term partner has become the universal language to some of us as "significant other" who could be male or female.
2. Heterosexuals, bisexuals, homosexuals and transgendered persons can all contract aids. Even children who have no sexual experience.
3. The person has an obligation to inform the partner. He didn't....the partner is now infected. Simple as that. The guys should feel guilt ridden and the partner most likely feels violated beyond measure.
You don't make any sense with your half statement ramblings. All I read in your post is: blame, blame, blame.
Are you suggesting that all educational contracts have been negotiated this way therefore explaining the cost of education IN NYS?
Well stated Otterwoman!
OK....Hold on.... ENOUGH ALREADY! Looks like some of you folks want to throw everyone in education under the bus because of a few people who screw up (and school boards who screw up) you conclude the entire education community of the world is a screw up. How about staying with the known facts and stop throwing every school community under the bus!
I've been watching events unfold via syracuse.com; I am not a resident of JE and all I can say is, WHAT PART OF FUNDAMENTAL COMMON SENSE IS MISSING HERE?This is clearly icing on the cake illustrating the many errors of this school board.......come on now....approve a contract without legal counsel review?
Regarding "after hours habits"......... this just deflects the issue away from legal obligations of this board of education. so what if they are "seen together....etc. etc." GET YOUR CONTRACTS EXECUTED CORRECTLY!
Thanks for the continued entertainment (not really) This place needs to implode and start from scratch.... I do not see JE board, or the JE administrators/teachers/ OR COMMUNITY ever recovering from the lack of common sense.
Oh... I can see it now, lets blame the lack of common sense on the USA educational system at large...that would be a great way for you folks to deny your role in all of this.
Look folks....... it includes payments into their benefits as well as reductions in previously contracted agreements, so yes..... it is a contractual cut. Is it a paycut? Well depends on how much was paid in for benefits etc.
How many of you (non teacher) folks actually took a cut in pay? I'm not talking about layoffs, getting fired, etc. Did you see your salary or hourly wage decrease?
Lets see..... I think there should be an NYS Department of Labor database where I can look up your name and your income!
All I can say is hmmmmmm Could this accounting problem been the factor causing the personnel cookies to crumbing and the "politically" based removal and retirement of employees?
Looks like Thomas Di Napoli, NYS Comptroller needs to come in and conduct a full investigation to protect the interests of taxpayers.
If I'm not mistaken, Regional Market falls under the supervision/rules of NYS Agriculture and Markets, so all of these issues need to be brought to NYS Ag. and Markets for review.
Regarding insurance: It is customary for insurance to be required whether at a location like Regional Market or a street vendor; community fair and the like. Even community service organizations that want to give out coffee at an arts festival need to have it. It's just a fact of life.
Yes the onion has a long history in NYS and continues to.
Which product (grown in NYS) is always found at the grocery store? ONIONS!
do we find NYS corn in grocery stores year round like the onion? NO
NY.....THE ONION STATE
Come on now..... Why is the scroll bar of headlines reading: "Former Sherrill Police Chief face meth charges".
THE POST STANDARD needs to fix this MAJOR ERROR.
meknow..... tell me more about the volt. does it recharge itself while driving to any extent like the prius, or do they all have to be plugged in and have the battery charged that way? I really am interested in the technology and the best cars on the market. i just don't want to have to plug my car into an electric socket.
Thanks for letting me know it's a fact. Too bad CONSUMER REPORTS left that out of there interview.
I'd like to see a "seethroughny.net" payroll website for all the other people who work and live in the state of NY.
If anyone knows of such a website, please post it. Maybe the Post Standard would like to research and post this type of data? Sounds newsworthy to me.
Kind of tough to support a case for all this demands that state employees make so much money when there
How many of you folks listened/watched the Consumer Reports video above the article on Toyota? Consumer Reports did nothing to tout the American VOLT for it's supposed ability to switch to gas when the battery is low" like MEKNOW claims. So what gives? Does the VOLT really have the ability to switch between gas and electric?
For everyone else out there: Entire batteries do not need to be replaced on Prius'. I've owned two and don't hear other owners complaining that they are paying to replace batteries; It's not like they are laptop computer batteries that wear out. There are so many American autos that are unfortunately stuck with needing Japanese/Korean/Chinese auto parts to be constructed. Laker15 I'm with ya 100%%%%%.
Personally, I don't care which country manufacturers the automobile.
Video above article is a great sales pitch for Prius. As a proud Prius owner (2008 and now a 2010) I can tell you that the infinite driving freedom (because it uses some gas) allows me to drive it anywhere. It does pay for itself during times when gas price is high, or when I am traveling many miles. I tend to drive it alot.... at least 30,000 miles each year.
Unfortunately, the US car industry needs to compete by selling a similar auto to the Prius engineering style. Why did we (USA) go for full electric with plug in requirements limiting the driving distance and elevating the demand (and now price) for electricity? Sorry designers, as a consumer it doesn't make any sense to me.
Still praying for the people of Japan.
I will remember her as a strong trailblazer during a time in American history where society would not even consider a woman as vp or pres.
Our society has come a long way since her campaign with Mondale. Woman will continue to serve in more and more positions within our government. Thanks to the very credible public servant Geraldine Ferraro!
And yes, Hilary Clinton should have been the democratic nominee and not Barack Obama.
"This seems to be a weekly event. I wonder how many are self sustaining? Do they plan to truly assimilate into the American way, or do they bring their culture with them and demand special treatment? Will they promise to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and contribute to the greatest nation on earth? I can only hope and pray that indeed you all do. This is America."
Trustnotone.... DEFINITELY PARANOID...paranoid by name and by comments. Apparently you have never been involved in the process of becoming an American citizen. Must be you're poor white trash who thinks everyone becoming a citizen is looking for a handout..... or might take away your hand out.
Congratulations to everyone who has achieved the right to be a naturalized citizen of the greatest nation on earth!
Gosh, just look at the photo? Why would you put an electronics store so close to Best Buy? Seems so silly to me. Must be the company just wasn't as savvy as Best Buy....they don't seem to be doing poorly in todays market....
Could it be : LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION???
Ditto on who the H.E.L.L. are these people to fault a career woman with an independent life and lifestyle! She isn't taking any money from the state for staff! for travel! So what if she lives with him in a home provided by the state. Gee wiz folks who can't find anything good about this woman who introduces herself as Sandy.
Good luck to both of them as they move into these uncharted waters (wifeless govenor) Might we all learn a great deal from both of you!!!
I am insulted by the remarks of "invisibleforce". I am a parent of internationally adopted children. My children are American as much as your so called "biological children."
I was so thrilled to see this article about ADOPTION and to celebrate the mutual gift that adoption brings: Children in who want parents and parents who want children.
It's none of your business where they were born!
TIME TO REINSTATE D.R.I.V.E.R. E.D.U.C.A.T.I.O.N. IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS!!
Since when does a driver pulled over by a police officer get out of the car!!! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY IN THE CAR. ANSWER QUESTIONS ASKED, PRODUCE DOCUMENTS, ETC.
YOU ARE NOT THERE TO DEBATE; CHALLENGE or REQUEST EVIDENCE!!!
I can't believe the people who believe this is the fault of the police officer!!!
I guess those of you who think everything is the fault of the police need to remember officers like ANDREW SPERR....who stopped a car on a "routine" traffic stop!! Google his name if you've never heard of him.
My italian grandparents and great-grandparents came to America from Sicily and began farming the mucklands in the 1920's. There is a terrific book at the Canastota Public Library reflecting on these immigrants and their work.
Terrific piece of writing. Enjoyed it very much. Maybe interview some of the elders of Canastota and the surrounding area who worked the muck in the early days....clearing the timber. I have photographs of the early days as I'm sure many others do as well.
It's called survival of the fittest! Get rid of the darn things.
Posts on this article have been so much fun to read....yeah it's a serious subject because of the distruction but the creativity has been fun.
Killin' critters that become overpopulated isn't something new.... just something chic to .itch about for the "save the animals" population.
Awesome job. NYSDMV ought to grab this and run with it on all television channels throughout the state!
Great photo, but from the way my eyes see the ball it looks like the goalie deflected the shot. Look at it again if you dont agree....ball is clearly in front of the bar so it didn't go in.
I admire the accomplishments of this woman which I'm sure go well beyond the few lightening rod issues cited in the article.
Jessica,
You have validated the humane response to our fellow man and those of us who wish we could be accepted for our random acts of kindness. Unfortunately there are those people in the world who think the compassion and humane response to fellow man places the compassionate one in a category of nuts or crazy....
Thanks for showing proof that the humane response you showed is beyond compare and fall's in the line of valor!
Too the young man on the bridge. Please remember, that if a stranger cared enough about you to help think about those whom you know who might come to your aide if you shared your pain with them. So many people in pain do not reach out.........and do not realize how many people love them. When you are dead you never find out......SO REACH OUT TO FRIENDS, LOVED ONES, and PLACES LIKE ST. JOES's.
