It's a boxing reference, Veda.
Ooo, a Buerkle story! Time for the partisans to fling poo at each other. Okay, everyone, let's keep it clean... I want a fair fight with no hitting below the belt. Wait for the sound of the bell, and come out fighting...
Cue fight music...

No snitchin'. What happens at the Boys and Girls Club, stays at the Boys and Girls Club.
Monsters are funny.

Bernie: Honey...its all over, we have no income....were downsizing, I'm moving to Israel, try and get a job while I'm away.
Laurie: The day I wear of the rack clothing will be the day Jimmy plays man to man defense! Where's the layers number again?
I think whoever did her hair and makeup has done more to paint her as a monster. That guy should be arrested.
No knowing the specific species of the Manlius pair, it's impossible to conclude their eventual fate. If they are native trumpeter swans, they enjoy special protctions under the Migratory Bird Act (CFR 50). If however they are mute swans, a non-native species introduced from Eurasia, the birds are not protected by federal legislation. Individual states decide the fate of mute swans. But trumpeter or mute, I like the birds. If I'm duck hunting and a small flock of swans lands nearby, their presence is a delightful distraction. Then it's back to the duck calling. Even if it WAS legal, I don't think I could bring myself to shoot a swan. I hope Faye lays a few more eggs and that the cygnets survive, but that pond is likely to get crowded if the survival rate is 100 percent. Swans are BIG, and some species consume as much as 8 pounds of vegetation every day. By summer's end, that pond could be a swan poop cesspool.
I am here, and I am NOT queer...
...as the cockroaches regroup.
Change the name of the street to McDimly, it would be more suitable.
The white house is on the corner of Avery and Driscoll, not Chemung...my mistake.
This is interesting. Nobody knows who had possession of the pepper spray, or who discharged it? Real Nice! Little thugs in training...No snitchin' yo! These kids are right on track to become contributing members of society...NOT!
Apparently, I struck a nerve with the pro-gay crowd. I apologize. You will never hear me arrive at a party, and say, "I'm here, and I'm queer". Sorry, that ain't happenin'. I am simply saying that we don't need gay, confusing advertising. That's all, folks!
+1 for sarcasm.
Cedric Judge and his homies at 815 Avery have been dealing drugs for awhile now. I figured it was a matter of time before he got in trouble for perpetuating his thug ways. They also deal drugs out of the white house on the hill on the corner of Avery and Chemung ave. The women also partake. There is a big white Nissan Van, and a new Black Lincoln Continental, which they park either in the driveway on Chemung or in the road in front of 815 Avery. Also, a Black Honda CRV. Cops, please take note. We are sick of these lowlives doing there business here. This is a good neighborhood, and they do not belong here. Cedric's partner in thugness was slinking up the street today, looking behind him as he walked. He ducked into the house on Chemung. Yesterday, he paid some crackheads with Crack, to mow the lawn on Chemung. Yes, this ain't no bull. He may be getting nervous about his best pal being in the lockup. Get them all, and prosecute them. They are vermin, and are also robbing the taxpayers with all their entitlements/handouts. Like the nice, white subsidized house on Chemung. Go back where ever you came from, Cedric and crew. The gig is up. The cops are on to you, lowlives. I also hope Social Services gets involved, so they can see what they helped create.
I love the picture of the CEO with egg on his face. It looks like some sort of contemporary, expressionist art work. It would look fabulous in my library.
If JCP spent half as much as they do in advertising, they could givea ll their pee-ons a raise. How much do you think they pay the very gay Ellen, their token LGBT employee? What a joke. And I don't shop there any more. I don't tolerate openly gay baloney in advertising. Major Fail for JCP. America is not ready for that!
Ooo... Tea Party Boehner wants to destroy America! :O
Tea Party Glen Beck Rush Palin Fox Koch News Boehner wants grandma to eat dog food and for innocent babies (redundant?) to starve! >:(
Ah, I see the partisan warriors have taken the field. Choosing to receive... the heartless, cruel Republicans. Kicking off... the godless, bearded Marxist Democrats. Who will destroy the country and take home the trophy? Stay tuned! Cheer on, partisan cheerleaders... cheer on.
5 down, several to go.
Erik;
2400 - perfect score on the SAT! That's an accomplishment in and of itself. J-D may not rank students individually, but smart money says if it did, you'd be the valedictorian and good for you if you are. Good luck at Princeton. Just hittem' long and straight and try not to make the rest of the Princeton frosh feel inadequate. You're gonna go places boy - I just gotta feeling.
Poor young fellow looks perplexed. Perhaps pondering his fate in the DOCS? Now, we will see what kind of fortitude Saquan possesses. He is in for quite an adventure. Bye-bye tough-guy.
"Both tax increases would be temporary. "
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Yeah, sure, why not... mission accomplished, and all that rubbish.
Who's Tomney? And what's a studnet loan?
Great story. Congratulations, Mr. Filipaj. Well done.
I can hear this guy now..."DOG, They SHOT MY SH*T!!"
Two items pop out of this story. First, why would anyone knowingly buy a house in a FEMA designated flood zone? Second and probably more importantly, based on the appraised values of the homes cited as examples, the city has pumped property values well beyond their actual market value. Mr Zielinski is a prime example. If he's correct in his assessment of his two rental properties, the city bases his taxes on a "value" 2 1/2 times what the houses would probably sell for.
Based upon Paul Reide's excellent reporting, the owners of every affected property in the FEMA flood zone should immediately challenge their property tax assessments.

Minimum wage
"The cost of living in New York has risen since 2009, when the minimum wage reached $7.25. Eighteen states now have higher wage floors that New York’s. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, proposes a raise to $8.50 an hour, indexed to inflation as 10 other states have done."
Surely, those who received minimum wage in 2009 would have gotten merit increases after they trained, got experience and proved their worth to the company that employs them? So what the paper editors want us to know is that NY does not lead in another infamous category the minimum wage? This is actually a GOOD thing for NY.
"Seventy-eight percent of voters support the increase, according to a new Siena poll."
I would love to see the questions and how they were presented but then again, it takes real intellect to understand the negative impact a minimum wage increase has on jobs and the economy holding all things equal. If the majority of people actually understood economics, there would not be a majority in favor of a minimum wage set by government.
"Cuomo is sympathetic. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, R-Rockville Centre, doesn’t even want a debate."
Typical uneducated political hatchet job.
"The usual complaint about killing jobs still lacks convincing evidence."
So, are the Post Editors admitting that they are lazy and lack real intellect for understanding economics and empirical evidence contrary to their own irresponsible comments?
"What is certain is that the $50 extra in a minimum-wage worker’s weekly paycheck would make a real difference. "
Wrong, what is certain is that most people are intellectually lazy or lack the brains to understand that the $50 extra will be offset by increased prices, lost jobs and closed or relocated businesses.
Sheldon Silver is counting on the ignorant and the lazy to go along with their schemes. It sounds great to increase the min-wage but Silver (unlike most others) understands that his union friends contracts are tied to min-wage levels.
Min-wage goes up, union wages go up...income tax receipts are also expected to increase. It doesn't happen because business cannot justify the large price increases to offset the much larger costs to staff at prior levels so to compensate, they increase prices AND lay people off. Meanwhile those employees who remain have a larger work load because they have to pick up the lost labor...after all, they just got a pay increase due to the min-wage increase but are now expected to be more efficient and take up the slack of laid off help.
Also not being considered is the impact of the internet. With the internet, business does not have to BUY from other NY business, they can go on line, check prices and I can guarantee they will find products for a lot less money and those companies are NOT based in NY.
So, if you are moronic enough to be in the 78% of those who support the minimum wage increase here in NY for NY businesses, you better buy NY otherwise, you really don't support raising the minimum wage.
