Spantchr,

Please provide evidence that Buerkle ignores views of her constituents. I know a lot of Buerkle constituents that share her views. As for evidence, there are at least 104,000 constituents that share her views. The source - the 2010 election results.

Larry,

Why do you, Maffei and Obama want to bankrupt Social Security? Why did Maffei always vote for more debt and more spending, which by the way, requires more taxes? Why did Maffei make a fool of himself on the Colbert Report? Why didn't Maffei return Rangel's dirty money? Why does the Post Standard go out of its way to publish anti-Buerkle letters from fools?

jkinsella,

Don't confuse Gerry with facts.

Also remember that the so-called "Alliance" for Retired Americans is affiliated with the AFL-CIO, which is affiliated with the Democrat Party.

That's right Gerry - bury your head in the sand. All is well.

Great points.

Ann,

Dan Maffei supports abortion. I am not a math genius, but my guess is that approximately half of the babies aborted (killed) are girls. Now, that is a "war" on women with real casualties. By your logic, that makes Maffei anti-baby as well as anti-woman.

Probably did not survey North Carolinians.

Wah, wah, wah. Cry me a river.

Elizabeth,

Al Gore announced he is finishing up a new book about global warming and the environment. The first chapter talks about how you shouldn't chop down trees to make a book that no one will read.

Norma,

Get back to me when Harry Reid, Schumer and Gillibrand do their jobs and actually introduce a budget to be debated. I have been waiting for more than three years.

Reinald,

I guess you can say that Maffei has a "plan," albeit a likely unconstitutional plan. You may want to hold off on the phrase "duly passed by Congress" until the Supreme Court rules.

Posted on Maffei's plan is the act passed by Congress on April 17, 2012, 6:55AM

With all the bad news Dan has faced, maybe he should shake up his campaign and get a new strategist. I think Hilary Rosen is available.

Buerkle now has a district that has an enrollment advantage of more then 10,000 her way. STRIKE ONE DAN!

Maffei has a credible third party threat from the Green Party candidate. STRIKE TWO!

Buerkle gains Independence Party endorsement. STRIKE THREE!! YOU'RE OUT!!

Think of it this way Dan, now you really won't need to mingle with constituents.

oncearepub,

If you haven't been reading the news, earmarks, which Walsh lived off of, are no longer allowed. As for Danny's green jobs, how has that worked out? Solyndra and Chevy Volt anyone?

Are you saying that the only way to add jobs to CNY is to beg for Washington handouts?

Einars,

Guess who was among the very top users of taxpayer-paid franked mail. Why, none other than your boy Dan Maffei. And don't forget all those taxpayer bonuses he paid staff. Too bad he couldn't spend some of that taxpayer money when he was a Congressman to drive himself to public town halls.

Chalkyt,

"Maffei fatigue" - you're not alone.

Make 2-time loser Danny 3-time loser Danny. His supporters will stop throwing good money after bad when they learn that Buerkle has a more than 10,000 GOP/Conservative enrollment advantage, that there is a credible third-party candidate, and that Maffei hates having anything to do with constituents.

Bye bye Danny.

Look for Danny Muffy's campaign to urgently issue a news release on how he is in favor of magical "green" jobs.

Not a good week for two-time loser Danny - credible third party candidate surfaces on the left and he learns that there are more Reps than Dems in new district and it is even more conservative than old district when you add in Conservative Party enrollment.

Oh oh.

Don,

All those teams that you named have smaller rosters than SU - some are 30% smaller. I think SU has 56 players on its roster. There are probably no more than 24 that play in a game. Desko might think he is stockpiling players, but to what end?

Let's face it - there is more high school lacrosse talent than ever before. More schools are adding D-I programs. That means if you are a decent D-I prospect, you will go to a school where you can play immediately instead of being buried in a 50+ man roster.

This season is an aberration, however, going forward there are no guarantees for automatic success. There is too much talent and it is being spread around. That might be bad for SU, but it is a good thing for the sport.

All of a sudden, SU's 3 Big East games, Rutgers, G'Town and Notre Dame have real meaning. Probably cannot afford a loss to any of them. Big East tourney takes top 4 teams. Notre Dame and Villanova look like locks for Big East tournament. Who would have thought that SU would be battling S. John's and Rutgers for a spot. Yikes.

Should not get in with .500 record. Needs to win (which they can) the Big East tournament.

999er,

Appreciate your thoughts. I make no distinction between Lehman Brothers, GM or American Airlines. These are (or were) private firms. Mistakes, intentional or not, are made. Taxpayers should not be responsible for them. What would have happened if GM closed? The same thing that happened when AMC, TWA, Pan Am, etc. closed, viz., another firm would fill the vacuum. Temporarily painful to be sure, but the market adjusts.

Bailouts are not free. Instead of thinking it as government assistance, label it as a taxpayer transfer payment. Bailouts (as well as corporate welfare) create uneven playing fields in the economy. There are of course macroeconomic factors that squeeze all businesses and cause some to fail. However, a number of companies go belly-up simply because of poor management and bad decisions. When those companies are rescued, it comes at the expense of companies that are operating efficiently and smartly. Oversight for bailout money is understandable, it is by no means an assurance that the money is safe. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also had Congressional oversight. Federal assistance programs mean a federal bureaucracy to administer the programs. Government, which has done such a great job with Amtrak, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, will be telling Detroit how to make and sell cars. Hence, the Volt.

999er,

So you agree then that AA should not be bailed out and that GM should not have been bailed out?

"UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? It's the Post Office that's always having problems."

Obama attempting to make the case for government-run healthcare, while simultaneously undercutting his own argument.

999er,

American Airlines is in bankruptcy. American Airlines has more than 73,000 employees (not sure how many "downstream" workers). Should Obama bail them out?

Sorry spantchr, but Maffei takes the title of worst representative we ever had. Just "Google Colbert Report Maffei" to see how Dan made us "proud."
