The federal government doesn't force anyone to buy flood insurance, the banks do. So it's kind of different.
Officer Lori Billy is a she not a he, and she was saying that there are both kinds of people on the Near West Side - those who just want money and power, and those who are just trying to have a job and buy a house. Both kinds. All kinds.
Why so hostile?
I'd like to voluntarily be redistricted into Hanna's district.
I don't know, normally I would take a product back to the store. But I didn't have time this time. It seems likely it's the manufacturer's responsibility, because Green Hills would rely on the stamped expiration date just like I did.
Very disturbing. I was a big fan of this business because it was bringing jobs to the State and to Chenango County... until I bought a big container of Chobani at Green Hills, and we opened it and it was coated with mold on top. It was way before the expiration date too. Never again. I buy Wegmans brand now.
I wish we had some better choices and some moderates from either party, Richard Hanna would be great.
@neilthewheel, where did you get that "more education" from? Her wikipedia article says
“After graduating as a registered nurse from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse, New York, she worked at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and at St. Joseph's. She was a substitute school nurse for many years before obtaining her law degree from Syracuse University School of Law.”
His says
a B.A. in history from Brown University in 1990, an M.S. in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1991, and an M.P.P. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1995.
Both have a bachelors and one post graduate degree.
horn00 so the Jesuits up at Lemoyne who provide such coverage to their employees evil?
Yes it's shocking that he would try to do the same thing that's already law in 28 states and that 98% of catholic women support, shocking I say, simply shocking.
Ann Marie Brinkle has done nothing for Central New York. She hid her extreme right wing agenda while running against Maffei who was a complacent easy target. Then she got to Washington and is trying to become the next batshizz crazy Michelle Bachman. Wish there was a third choice.
It's $2,000, not $20,000
It has nothing to do with Obama. The states made the settlement agreement with the banks. The banks agreed to the settlement instead of the States' attorney generals investigating the fraud by the banks.
I had the same reaction to the photo of their glitzy skyscraper office, as well as Nancy Brinker's botoxed face. This is a charity?
and really, i thought republicans liked guns?
Well either the person in charge is in charge or not, right? Do you really think she was not ultimately responsible for the taxes on her property.... yup sure.
I like the part where she says as AG he must be held accountable for every single act commited by the Justice Dept... but when the tenants at her strip mall didn't pay the taxes it wasn't her fault - of course.

Thanks for that. They can read, but they love to blame the victim on syracuse.com.
Jobs were created -- in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands.
oops I mean to say @ bitterwon
Verbatim, did you read the article? It said she consulted a lawyer who told her she has no legal case against the school.
you know, I was right there with her until reading that she took the kids out of school for a whole day so she could consult a lawyer. how is a lawyer going to help the school which can't afford the teachers aides, the mother who can't control the kids when they are in school, or the kids, who need to simply learn right and wrong? by presumably taking your kids with you to the lawyer's office, you instead are teaching them that the legal system is a tool for what... revenge? blame? Sometimes things just happen and you need to learn and move on without trying to make a lawsuit out of it.
This "food" column seems more about posing for the camera. I could count the number of times she says "I" at the beginning of her sentences, but then I would get tired. Oops I said it three, I mean four, I mean five times now myself.
right, that's what you meant by "smashing ... literally." sure.
Okay, so then you do want them to be killed.
That is funny. But do you really believe they should die?
So basically you want people you disagree with to be dead?
I don't live in J-E but it seems ludicrous to be cutting foreign language to hook up a bunch of kids who grew up with the internet with a bunch of expensive iPads to teach them email. Isn't this also the district that is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on legal fees? Priorities are out of balance.
@Toto, I agree with some of what you said but it's inaccurate to say only federally backed mortgages require flood insurance. Conventional loans do too, if your house is in a flood zone. The bank wants to be named as an insured party in case the house is destroyed by flood. The reason it's a federal program is because private insurance companies historically tried to weasel out of paying claims because of the high risk. I agree that it's a waste of federal money though to pay for rich peoples beachfront second homes to be rebuilt in flood prone areas; I also thought it a terrible waste of money to keep rebuilding New Orleans... an area built on a delta, which can only be sustained through an elaborate levy system.
